MODI-fication of INDIA

The year 2014 was quite significant one for Indian politics. It saw the return of single party majority at the centre after three decades and rise of a politician without a political surname.

Yes.

On 26th may 2014 Narendra Damodardas Modi took oath as 15th prime minister of India.

To my mind that marked the beginning of INDIA’s MODI-fication.
Let me emphasis that when I say MODI-fication, it’s not same as modification.
Modification is bringing about a change in something. Modification is too big a word to use as of now. India has not changed much in the past one year. So, let me tell you what I mean what MODI-fication is.

The power to simplify solutions to age old problems and solving those using minimum resources is gifted to only a few on this planet.

Well Mr. Modi is definitely one of them!

On 2nd October 2014 the PM launched "Swachh Bharat Mission".
From that point onward I consciously try to drop garbage in the dustbin. I am sure there would be many like me who will think at least twice before littering around.
Also, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana was successfully launched to ensure financial inclusion of each and every Indian citizen. Moreover, his "Make in India" campaign is strategically focused to boost Indian manufacturing sector growth. In the near future we would not have to buy "made in china" products with so much intensity.
There are many other policies on similar lines like Digital India program, Shrameva Jayate etc.
Further, Prime Minister, Modi also began working to make Indian economy more business-friendly by reforming the red tape that have hindered the progress of Indian business in the past.
In May 2015, FDI in India reported 61% increase since the previous year owing to the liberalization of FDI policies.

I believe that through these innovative and simple ideas governance has become open, easier and transparent.

Coming to the foreign trips of NaMo often dubbed as vacations.
Let me tell you these are a part of foreign policy objectives to increase India’s soft power and improve bilateral ties.
PM's foreign policy initiatives are helping India to realize its true potential and role on the world's stage.
The 2015 Republic Day saw President Barack Obama visit as a Chief guest of India, a first in the India-USA relation history.

The frequent visits of several other powerful leaders from the developed and developing nations have achieved breakthrough improvements as far as cooperation between India and these nations is concerned.
Other significant foreign initiatives include clearing the way for enclaves exchange agreement with Bangladesh, a successful strategy to contain the threat of infiltration.
Above all Modi influenced the decision to declare 21st June as the ‘International Day of Yoga at the UN.’
All these initiatives are positively changing the global outlook towards India.

But there are always two sides of the same coin.

Like every other politician in power, he is also bound to face some challenges. Some of the major challenges are:
-Issue of bringin back the Black money stashed in foreign accounts.

-Occurrence of hate speeches by his own ministers

-Terrorism is another threat which the Modi government is already perceiving.

-And finally, the biggest of all, issue of financial turnaround.
These apart it has been the year of Modi.

Finally, I would like to conclude this article with a slightly modified quote by Robert Frost (:P)

"Woods are lovely dark and deep but MODI has promises to keep and modify India before he sleeps and modify India before he sleeps."
