Yesterday, I
stumbled upon an old, beautiful story.
Though many
of you have probably read it before, I want to share it with you all.
Once upon a
time there was a newly-wed couple.
On their
wedding night, they made a vow, not to open the door for their parents.
Just then
the groom’s parents knocked the door.
The groom wanted
to open the door, but desists for he made a vow to his wife.
Then, after
some time bride’s parents knocked the door. Her eyes filled with tears.
She said “I
can’t do this to my own parents!” and rushed to open the door.
Groom remained
silent.
Several years
passed by. The couple with their two boys was living happily.
Then they
were blessed with a beautiful baby girl.
Father of
the girl celebrated the moment by hosting a grand party.
That night
his wife asked – “Why such extravagance? We did nothing comparable at the time
of two boys.”
The husband replied – “because she is the one
who will open the DOOR for me!”
I think it’s high time now the people of INDIA
should realize the importance of a girl child.
It’s disheartening to read the news about so
many newly born girls being abandoned, just because they are “girls”!
Ironically, they are the same people rather
as**oles who do not want a girl child as their daughter, but desperately want
one as their daughter in law.
Also, not every parent treats their daughter in
the same way. For some, their daughters are more than a princess (I am blessed
to have such parents).
But still, INDIA is full of perverts like
molesters, rapists and the list is endless.
So, the final message to all my sisters is:
Be brave as an English movie heroine –“Capable enough
to rescue the hero!”
Unlike most of the Hindi movie’s heroine – A meek
lamb, always looking forward to her “manly” prince charming, to come to her
rescue.
If you work 14hrs, I will work 15hrs because I am not “Pradhan
Mantri”. I am “Pradhan Sevak”.
-Narendra Damodardas Modi
Mr. Modi, the 15th Prime Minister of INDIA utters
these words as a part of his maiden speech given from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
Narendra Modi is the first prime minister of INDIA to have
been born after independence.
Today, he also becomes the first PM, who departed from the
tradition and spoke extempore about his vision of INDIA, while addressing the
nation on its 68th Independence Day.
For the world he may the 15th Prime Minister, but
for me he is the first one, who inspires me enough to wake up at 7.30am just to
witness the LIVE coverage of the event.
Smartly dressed in his popular half sleeved Kurta along with a neat, saffron and
green coloured turban, Mr. Modi unfurls the tri colour at the Red Fort before
making his maiden speech.
On the ground we could see a beautiful “68” formed by the
school children.
The complete scene invoked an unusual type of patriotism in
me.
If I talk about the speech by Mr. Modi then as usual, it
appears as if a common man was addressing the entire nation.
Also, it was beautifully presented (a cakewalk for him)
along with a complete and realistic, vision and mission.
Critics may argue that his speech scores high on oratory and
but has delivered on few of his promises.
But, let’s get our expectations to real and realistic
levels. We cannot expect our economy to immediately take off without going
through a “repair-and-mend” phase.
Lastly, Mr. Modi always manages to bring a smile on my face
by his repetitive use of the phrase- “BHAIYO AUR BEHNO”, no matter how serious
the issue he is talking about.
Overall, I felt satisfied with the speech and waking up at
7.30am truly paid off (Though I slept again at 8.45am).
What is the
first reaction of the people of INDIA (including me), when we hear about some
crime.
For
example, a murder or a rape or an accident?
While some
people show their deepest condolences to the victim’s family, some show
complete apathy as if it’s none of their business because neither the culprit nor
the victim is a family member and hence, an alien.
Also, some show complete antipathy
and accuses the victim instead (not appropriately dressed as in the case of a rape).
This shows
we talk a lot.
There is no one in the entire world who can be more active than
us in such type of debates.
My question
to only those of you, who shows their greatest sympathy towards the victim (rest
of you can skip this post right away):
If you are traveling in your super luxurious car and see a person lying on the road in a
pool of blood, freshly being hit by a bus, what will you do?
Will you
rush the victim to the nearest hospital?
Will you
get out of the car and check if the person is still alive?
Will you
even stop your car?
Will you
even think! about stopping your car?
I am sure
most of you will answer in a NO to 3 out of the 4 questions in your mind.
But, what
we will do if we hear the same story in the form of news on the television:
“A man was
hit by a bus in the morning and succumbed to his injuries as he was not taken
to the hospital immediately.”
I am 100% sure
you will condemn the officials, the police and especially THE CITIZENS of India who merely
passed by, leaving that man to die.
"How insensitive they are?", you will ask.
Now, take a
more talked about, rather “popular” issue, issue of crime against women, like
molestation.
If you see
a girl being molested by some goons or even a single person, what will you do?
As you
already know, social media is flooded with the videos of various social
experiments to gauge the reaction of Indians on this highly sensitive issue(have a look at one of them).
From them I
could easily figure out that, in a crowded place too, when a girl is being molested by
even a single person, most of the onlookers react as if they should buy a pack of
popcorn and just enjoy the show.
Then after
much time, out of the crowd of around 20 people, a courageous girl/boy would
appear to take a stand for the victim.
Why so? Why
only a person or two?
Baatey to hum sab bohot badi badi krte hai fir
ek do log kyu? (We
all talk so much then why only one or two people?)
On the
social media we see a plethora of people commenting on such sensitive topics
as:
“If I were
there I would have surely taught the lesson to them.”
If I were
there I would have beaten the sh*t out of them.”
But, when I
am actually there I was standing like nothing was happening, but trust me in my
heart I was actually beating the culprits.
Am I Wrong?
If yes, I am sorry please correct me.
This
happens for every other unpleasant incident in India.
I am not
saying ALL of us are this ignorant but trust me MOST of us are.
We talk a
lot, a lot. But, do so little or even nothing.
My request
to you people: Please TALK ONLY if you can WALK or don’t talk but at least WALK.
“Empty
vessel makes the most noise”, aptly fits into the present scenario of our
country.
People just
talk and talk but actually we need people who can take the stand against these
unpleasant incidents, those who can come out to help others without any selfish
motives but, just for the sake of humanity.
In this way
we will actually build a nation which will be so peaceful and rid crimes that
we will not have to talk about such incidents at all.
So, my
request to you all (and myself), please take a pledge that you will actually
WALK the TALK! And those who are already doing, I just want to give you all a
*SALUTE*, we need more people like you.
P.S. : I request you all, if you ever come across any of the unpleasant incidents like these, then please, at least, make a call to the nearest police station as early as possible.
