If you work 14hrs, I will work 15hrs because I am not “Pradhan
Mantri”. I am “Pradhan Sevak”.
-Narendra Damodardas Modi
Mr. Modi, the 15th Prime Minister of INDIA utters
these words as a part of his maiden speech given from the ramparts of the Red Fort.
Narendra Modi is the first prime minister of INDIA to have
been born after independence.
Today, he also becomes the first PM, who departed from the
tradition and spoke extempore about his vision of INDIA, while addressing the
nation on its 68th Independence Day.
For the world he may the 15th Prime Minister, but
for me he is the first one, who inspires me enough to wake up at 7.30am just to
witness the LIVE coverage of the event.
Smartly dressed in his popular half sleeved Kurta along with a neat, saffron and
green coloured turban, Mr. Modi unfurls the tri colour at the Red Fort before
making his maiden speech.
On the ground we could see a beautiful “68” formed by the
school children.
The complete scene invoked an unusual type of patriotism in
me.
If I talk about the speech by Mr. Modi then as usual, it
appears as if a common man was addressing the entire nation.
Also, it was beautifully presented (a cakewalk for him)
along with a complete and realistic, vision and mission.
Critics may argue that his speech scores high on oratory and
but has delivered on few of his promises.
But, let’s get our expectations to real and realistic
levels. We cannot expect our economy to immediately take off without going
through a “repair-and-mend” phase.
Lastly, Mr. Modi always manages to bring a smile on my face
by his repetitive use of the phrase- “BHAIYO AUR BEHNO”, no matter how serious
the issue he is talking about.
Overall, I felt satisfied with the speech and waking up at
7.30am truly paid off (Though I slept again at 8.45am).
Once again a very Happy Independence Day.
